A Case of Multiple Myeloma with Intracytoplasmic Crystallin Inclusion

Abstract
|
|
|
We describe a case of multiple myeloma, IgG kappa type, of which plasma cells have
large bundles of pink-staining rod-like crystals in their cytoplasm. These crystals failed
to stain with peroxidase, Sudan black B, and PAS, but showed acid phosphatase and
nonspecific esterase positivity. By electron microscopy, these cells failed to show definite
crystalline structure in their cytoplasm except multivesicular structures. So, we deduce
that the intracytoplasmic crystals in this case are associated with lysosome.
